Podcast Collage

I want to do a Thing. It is a Thing which

and I hashed out at her kitchen table, and is therefore Awesome.

For this Thing I need your help.

I am going to construct a Podcast Collage. And I need voices. Please volunteer only if serious, and if you can commit to sending in your piece within two weeks, preferably sooner.

This is what will happen:

You will volunteer, because you, too, are Awesome.
I will send you 2 short paragraphs from The Orphan’s Tales–and before you ask, I will assign characters based on who I think fits each beastie best. If you are one of the rare sorts who has already had a chance to read the book, you may request a character with the understanding that I might overrule you.
You will record yourself reading these paragraphs in two separate mp3s and email them to me.
I will assemble the collage and post it on the Orphan’s Tales site by mid-November.
Awesome acheived.

I am looking for all kinds of voices, male and female. I will probably need about a dozen, but I’ll work with whatever I get, volunteer-wise. I am particularly looking for older voices, voices with non-American or strong American-regional accents (I’m looking at you,

and

and

and all the rest of you accented folk on my list. Don’t make me list off all the ones I know have voices we mid-Atlantic folks would kill for), but I want regular old standard Americana Received Pronunciation voices, too. If you do have an accent or unusual vocal thing, please make a note of it in your comment.

If you are yourself a writer or artist, participation will earn you a link on the site to your work of choice via the cast list. It’s a nice way to get a little extra promotion, and be part of something terribly cool. If this pans out as I think it will it will be an eerie, beautiful patchwork of voices weaving in and out of each other, and serve as the aural face of the Orphan’s Tales.

Anyone game?

  2. How do I make the sounds captive in the voice recording thing?

    That’s my question.

I’ll do it, if you still need someone. 🙂 My Southern accent has thickened up a bit since I’ve been home, if that helps? Send me e-mail at fireriven@livejournal.com

Um, I’ll help if you like. I’ve done some voiceover work for Patty’s radio station, as well as being the “voice” of CWRU’s library…
