Bordertown Lives

It was a launch party of amazing! It was packed! Anna sang and S00j sang and someone brought me DEATHLESS BEER and oh my god!

I have been running like crazy ever since, and today I finally get to sit down and work, but the awesome keeps rolling in and ahhhhh New York. Soup dumplings! My brain is in backwards! I have so much semi-secret good news!

But the good news I have right now?

I have obtained a copy of the new Bordertown anthology to give away with the Deathless packages. These are NOT easy to come by pre-publication, even for industry folks, so this is a PRIZE.

I think I may have forgotten to mention that I am in the new Bordertown anthology? The series is coming back, and I got to be a part of that wonderful world. More excitement on that front to come, but for now, it is officially part of the Deathless treasure chest.

You win that by posting on LJ, Twitter, FB, Tumblr, anywhere, about Deathless before next Tuesday, at which point I will make a drawing. Leave a comment on this post showing me where you’ve linked. (I know some of you have even finished it already! If you have, do consider leaving a review on Amazon.)

I know the blog’s been Radio Free Deathless this week. Back to normal next week. For now, I am so frazzled I may spontaneously turn into a bird at any moment.

  1. Deathless Beer

I am super excited that you liked the beer! Did you try it? Was it any good? I almost gave you a Deathless Porter instead, as I thought a dark strong, complex beer might be more appropriate, but I wasn’t sure the porter was ready yet, and the Bitter I had tasted and was good (at least to me). Again, yay!

  6. Don’t put me in the drawing, I can afford my own anthology, but I am enjoying Deathless to death, as it were. I wish you many more books like this one!

Please do enter me in the drawing! I lived that world of the Lower East Side that blossomed (wild flower through cracks in the sidewalk) of the 80′s, hide out at (and eventually worked for Forbidden Planet)…cutting out finding solace in the libraries till the dives opened, living on the roofs and where ever I could. Bordertown kept me going through that mad decade!

  16. Good lord.

Deathless is the kind of book I wait years for. I’m very picky about what catches my attention, but this has got me by the nose and I’m only on chapter 3 or so. Thank you, thank you, thank you so goddamned much for giving my brain something to feast on. What a lovely feeling.

  21. Bordertown… is coming… back? Cat Valente… will be writing… Bordertown stories?

*keels over from sheer happy* Those books were such a bastion of my fairy-obsessed teenage years you have no idea. I cannot wait to see what you do with it, I really can’t.

  26. OH MY GOD BORDERTOWN

I managed to hunt down some of the original anthologies when I was a teenager, and love them to this day. To me, that is the pinnacle of urban fantasy. I am SO EXCITED that it’s getting revived again.

  31. Deathless was wonderful! I posted a review on my blog (thanks for retweeting it, btw!), i need to edit it down to an amazon appropriate length.

please don’t spontaneously turn into a bird, because then you’d wake up trapped in a story, and sure it would be fun for a while, but you’d be stuck as a bird. and wouldn’t you rather be a tree, anyways?
